Using DOSFOLAT®XS to improve the effiencieny of the municipal
STW of Bonn-Duisdorf

A careful study of the application of DOSFOLAT®XS under controlled
conditions. Half of the STW influent was treated with DOSFOLAT®XS
whereas the other half of the influent waste water was left untreated.
A permanent reduction of surplus sludge of 32 % was achieved.

A small SBR plant for domestic waste water benefits from using DOSFOLAT®XS

A small biological aerated SBR-plant of 2m3 basin capacity was used to test the
efficiency of DOSFOLAT®XS under controlled conditions.

A surplus sludge reduction in the order of 20% to 50% was achieved
which means the cost efficiency of DOSFOLAT®XS was proven.

A study in the reduction in waste production by using DOSFOLAT®XS

This study was conducted in three different and successive phases. In each phase,
the first system received addition of DOSFOLAT®XS, in order to verify if this product
would decrease the quantity of produced sludge, in comparison with the second
system, which did not receive any addition. The three phases above mentioned
were consisted in the operation of those two systems during 94, 79 and 133
effective days respectively. There was, in the first and second phases, primary
effluent feeding at 5m3/day flow and, in the third phase, raw wastewater feeding
at 2m3/day. During this three phase experiment, its several parameters were monitored:
settleability parameters, total and volatile suspended solids concentration of the
sludge in the biologic reactors, and the removal efficiency of BOD, COD, TKN and
Phosphorus for those two parallel systems. The results of this study indicated
only the efficiency of DOSFOLAT®XS to decrease the quantity of produced sludge
in wastewater treated by activated sludge process, in comparison with the
activated sludge process without DOSFOLAT®XS addition. (Thesis in portugese PDF 9.8 MB)

Using DOSFOLAT®XS: The results will be 40% less surplus sludge

In this paper is presented the following: The method of application and the practical results of the DOSFOLAT®XS treatment in a municipal STW in Lower Saxony .

The major result was the reduction of surplus sludge in the order of 54%
to 40% . In addition the process stability was remarkably
increased plus the plant s resistance against toxic shocks

DOSFOLAT®XS improves the efficiency of sewage treatment works

DOSFOLAT®XS has been used to improve the efficiency of biological sewage
treatment plants. The data collected over a longer period of time have confirmed
that lasting and substancial operating benefits are the result when
DOSFOLAT®XS is added .

DOSFOLAT®XS for surplus sludge reduction in sewage treatment works

Sewage treatment works in various parts of Germany use DOSFOLAT for
their landfill cost reduction.
The improved new application method for DOSFOLAT® - a procedure
developed earlier in South America during the years 2000 to 2003 - has been
applied with success with every German customer.

All these sewage treatment works reported smooth plant operation
under our DOSFOLAT®XS treatment and cost savings
and surplus sludge reductions well over 60% .

DOSFOLAT®XS stabilises industrial and domestic biological STWs

DOSFOLAT®XS was used to improve the operating characteristics in
two biological sewage treatment plants in Turkey and the excellents
results were monitored and interpreted in this Diploma Thesis.

By using DOSFOLAT®XS at maintenance dose levels of 0.4 ppm it was
possibible to stabilize the metal industrial waste water plant COD
discharge values at around 88 -106 mg/l.

The effluent COD value at the outlet of the domestic waste water
biological treatment plant has been reduced down to 60 mg/L and so
stable discharge values have been realised. DOSFOLAT®XS was used
at 0.4 ppm dosage level. The full paper is a fantastic good report on
actual DOSFOLAT®XS usage and includes excellent theoretical
background information

DOSFOLAT®XS Provides Sludge Bulking Control at Lower Cost

The cost of using DOSFOLAT®XS at maintenance dose levels was
16% less than the cost of the sodium hypochlorite required to
produce comparable filament control.For the Suffield ,CT W.P.C.F.
operation at maximum DOSFOLAT®XS dose produced the added
benefit of reduced waste sludge, a strategy which could translate

DOSFOLAT®XS stabilises a Glucose Factory WWTP

Organic shock loadings causes many problems in a lot of waste
water treatment plants. These types of treatment plants creates
many problems to reach the dischage standards. To reach the
discharge standards it may need huge enlagement of the plant.
In this study, instead of enlagement of the treatment plant, our
approach has been to use the apllication method of the folic acid
supplement DOSFOLAT®XS in a Glucose Factory WWTP. By using
DOSFOLAT®XS at startup dosage levels of 1 ppm and at
maintenance dose levels of 0.5 ppm this treatment has improved
biomass treating performance and equalized the shock loadings.

DOSFOLAT® reduces the use of secondary treatment additives
in paper plants

Both the American and the English paper recycling plants had
severe filamentous bulking problems that were brought under
control through the use of DOSFOLAT®. In the case of the American
plant this allowed them to achieve significant savings in polymer
used to promote flocculation; the English plant reduced or eliminated
the chlorine dioxide that had been used to kill the filaments.The
american plant also found significant decreases in the amount of
waste sludge generated.
Both plants also experienced cleaner effluent. (PDF 2 MB )

A Non-conventional Solution to an Old Problem

After 5 weeks of the DOSFOLATt® supplement, the floc had become
firm and M. parvicella were present in very small quantities.The
effluent suspended solids were still well below the permit
requirement.After settling had improved in October, Keene
was able to lower the sludge age and thus the mixed liquor
concentration with no adverse affect on the effluent quality.

Sequencing Batch and Hybrid Anerobic Reators Treatment
of Dairy Wastes

In this paper wastewater treatment alternatives for diary wastes
produced from a Turkish Milk Industry Association plant are
described. DOSFOLAT® was used in the feed of anerobic reactors
to active biosynthesis and to improve sludge characteristics.This
application resulted in a very stable reactor performance,
increased biomass production and biogas production in the system.

A scientific proof for DOSFOLAT

Testing DOSFOLAT® in an pilot plant and in a municipal STW gave
measurable results. Improved performance of the biological
sewage unit was directly related to the presence of the stabilized
folic acid additive.

A vitamin for biological sewage treatment plants

Some 65 per cent of aerobe biological sewage treatment plants
in the US are deficient in vitamins. Folic acid is the most needed
vitamin for biological sewage treatment plants.This vitamin is
easily destroyed through the influence of oxidation, reduction,
heavy metals, heat and light. A double stabilized liquid
preparation of folic acid acid -DOSFOLAT®- has now been found
